As mentioned a few days ago, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds full release will be delayed towards the end of 2017. Bluehole, PlayerUnknown’s developer company, wants to make sure they will provide better character customization options.
Right now the options are pretty basic. You can choose some different preset faces, skin tones, and hairstyles, but the developers want to include even more.
Chang Han Kim, Battlegrounds Executive Producer, said:
We plan to give our users much more control over character appearance by implementing Anticto’s Mutable character customization system. Soon, you will be able to design your character to a tee.
As mentioned by their developer Jordi Rovira, the goal is to allow players to customize and give unique looking appearance for the characters. These will include a system that will allow players to project Tattoos anywhere in the body of the character. They will also have a similar system for the clothing that will let you project logos into your t-shirts, helmets or any clothing.
Another cool feature is to allow the players decide how if they what to tuck in the clothing or not. So your character can wear a t-shirt tuck in or on top of their pants. Same will apply for interaction between boots and pants.
Mutable has a progressively increasing set of special tools for common problems related to character customization, like run-time plane clipping that help combine layers of clothing.
