Between August 2011 and February 2017, $93,285,259 in prize money went out to teams competing in Premier and Major tournaments. Of that amount, $56,198,430 came from the six prior TIs.

While Europe arguably has a more active Dota scene than North America, NA was able to edge out EU in terms of winnings largely thanks to the Evil Geniuses dynasty. EG won TI5 and placed third at both TI4 and TI6, winning $9,853,337, not counting their many other tournament placings.

Ultimately though, China — with three TI victories and numerous big money domestic tournaments — blew every other region out of the water with $40,403,380. That’s more than double NA’s earnings and 43.31 percent of the $93,285,259 shared between the regions.
